How we work

Our mission is to use innovative, lasting solutions to combat deforestation, and to channel investment into forest rehabilitation to stimulate the development of sustainable, prosperous communities.

We carry out our mission through a Service Agreement with the forest concession holder who implements our approved project plans – the Habitat Protection Plan, the Habitat Rehabilitation Plan and the Community Plan.

Funds are invested in these Plans for:

  • Forest protection
  • Forest rehabilitation
  • Community projects
  • Project monitoring and audit
  • In-country management and project logistics
  • Project governance, administration, marketing and communications.

By establishing new forest plantations in degraded forest areas and by providing employment we protect the virgin forest from illegal logging, poaching and fire.

As a result we achieve a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases from deforestation. Other results are the provision of employment opportunities for local people, and the establishment of a new alternative and sustainable planted timber resource.
We will not send-in teams of foreign experts to run projects. Instead we are committed to maximising the skills of Indonesian organisations. We will govern the complete chain of project activities. This includes legal agreements, independent audit and verification, and satellite imagery.
